Addiction Resources Off Campus

You may refer yourself to Addictions services by calling the central intake number (1-866-340-6700). Our intake clinicians will ask you questions to help determine the services you need. This intake call may take 15 to 20 minutes and you will be asked for your Health Card number.
You may also request a referral to our services from your doctor, other health care professionals or community agency familiar with your concerns.
Below are a select number of services available by calling the central intake number.

Community Based Services Addictions

WHAT IS IT?

Community-Based Services work with individuals that are having problems with reducing or stopping their use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs and/or gambling.

HOW WILL IT HELP?

Services included:

  • Individual (one-on-one) Treatment 
  • Group Treatment
  • Skill Based Workshops
  • Intensive 2 Week Treatment Programs 
  • Assessment for Inpatient Treatment (detox) and Opioid Treatment Program.

HOW DO I Access IT?

This service is available for adults’ age 19 years or older.

Stop Smoking Services

WHAT IS IT?

Stop smoking services is for individuals 19 years of age or older who want to cut back and/or stop their tobacco use.

HOW WILL IT HELP?

Most participants will attend a 5 week stop smoking structured group that brings participants together in a supportive environment to explore topics related to making changes to tobacco use, including:

  • understanding and developing coping strategies to manage triggers 
  • cravings and urges to use tobacco
  • making changes to patterns of behaviour 
  • managing stress without tobacco use

As part of this program, nicotine replacement therapy (NRT patch, gum or lozenge – as determined by your pharmacist) is provided for the duration of treatment (up to a maximum 16 weeks).

Opioid Treatment Program

WHAT IS IT?

Methadone can be used to help individuals with a dependence or addiction to opioids. They are used to help individuals manage and overcome dependence/addiction to pain medication and are used along with other therapy and support.

The program is made up of a team of health care professionals including nurses, doctors, and social workers.

HOW WILL IT HELP?

Additional services in the program may include:

  • Counseling and developing an individual treatment plan
  • Therapy groups and programs
  • Referrals to psychiatrist, mental health clinician and medical testing (if needed)
  • Support accessing community resources (e.g. housing and income supports)

Inpatient Treatment Program

WHAT IS IT?

The inpatient treatment program provides medical, supervised withdrawal management and support to individuals that require treatment and support to manage their withdrawal symptoms from substances such as alcohol and drugs.

The treatment program is made up of a team of health care professionals including nurses, doctors, psychiatrist, social workers and recreational therapist.

HOW WILL IT HELP?

Additional services in the program may include:

  • Counseling and developing an individual treatment plan;
  • Therapy groups and programs, including recreational therapy;
  • Connection to follow-up care to ensure continued support for recovery;
  • Referrals to psychiatrist, mental health clinician and medical testing (if needed);
  • Support accessing community resources upon returning to the community (e.g. housing and income supports).

Individuals admitted to the program stay at the facility between five to 21 days.  Length of an individual’s stay is determined by the treatment team in consultation with the individual.
